STUDENTS

Growing together.

Whoever you are, wherever you're from, you are welcome here.

Two difficult transitions take place during a student’s time with our ministry. The first transition happens between 8th and 9th grade. Double or triple class sizes, new mammoth facilities that need road maps to navigate, and hormones that are rapidly changing brain chemistry and causing new feelings and emotions. This time often finds teenagers shocked and having to adjust quickly to the change in tempo and behavior of the world around them.

The second transition is the one from 12th grade to post high school. For some this means college and the tension of getting to recreate themselves. For others this includes a full time job or tech school and the realities of “the real world” coming right at an 18 year old. The church as a whole loses a large number of people between the ages of 17 to 24, and a lot of that has to do with this time of transition at the end of high school.

As our volunteer leaders develop relationships with students, we hope the leader’s experiences and vulnerability allow our students to gain a better understanding of what’s ahead of them and have a firm grasp of where their value comes from before they’re thrown into the chaos of transition.  We realize we can’t stop difficult things from happening to students, but we would love to walk next to them as they navigate through those times.
MDWK for Middle School
Our 5th-8th grade students are invited to Church Wednesday evenings from 6-7:30pm. During this time we play some games, open up the word, and then break it down in small groups together.
MDWK for High School
Our 9th-12th grade students are invited to Church Wednesday evenings from 7:30-9pm. We spend time connecting relationally to kick off our evening, followed by a game or two and the jump into a more discussion based large group talk followed by small groups.
